Buying a luxury property in California – counties you should check out

Posted on July 26, 2022July 26, 2022 By Lisa Roberts

Buying a luxury property in California is a pretty common occurrence. This is the state of luxury. Because of that and because of the high demand for this state the prices are very high. Surely, that is something you already know. That might be the only downside of this country but for many people, price is not the problem. Even though New York (Manhattan specifically) is still the number one destination for luxury home-buyers, California is right behind. But which county to choose? That’s why you have us to point you in the right direction and to show you who can help you after you have your heart set on one specific place.

Buying a luxury property in California – what you should know

For luxury house buyers and sellers, home inspectors play an important role in the buying and selling process. Luxurious homes aren’t only larger. They often have unique features and amenities that a regular home inspection doesn’t address. It has various power panels and landscaping irrigation systems as well as spas and high-tech amenities. Verify a home inspector’s credentials before hiring him or her, especially if the home belongs to a famous or well-known person. When it comes to maintaining privacy, you’ll want to check that the inspector in question has an impeccable record. Your inspector should go over everything to make sure there aren’t any nasty surprises when the sale is closed. Before we start you should know that Covid had a huge impact on California’s market so make sure to consult the experts and see if that affects you too.

Now we can start our house hunt!

Santa Clara County

This is officially the richest county in California with a median household income of $125,000. Santa Clara County has a diverse and vibrant culture that includes a long history, a wide range of ethnicities, a vibrant arts scene, world-class sports facilities, and numerous prestigious educational institutions. Here is a fun fact for you – over 100 languages (and dialects) are all used in this area. Quite a cultural mix. That is one of the reasons why young professionals love this county.

Santa Clara County, already regarded as one of the best locations to live in the state, was chosen as the best county in the state to live in by 2021. If you check out online (by using Zillow.com) you will see a lot of luxury homes available but the best ones are not listed online. To get the most luxurious ones you will need to find a good and reliable local realtor. If you are buying your first house you will need some additional help.

County of San Mateo

San Mateo, California’s most desirable city, is located in a county of the same name. People of San Mateo enjoy a unique urban-suburban lifestyle, with the majority of residents being homeowners and you can find a lot of luxurious homes here.

Atherton, in San Mateo County, is home to some of the most prestigious properties in all of California. Atherton is a San Mateo County town located about 40 minutes south of San Francisco and about 30 minutes from Silicon Valley. Besides being the most pricey town in California, Atherton is also the most costly in the United States. These are the two cities in this county you should check out if you are on the market for luxury property in California.

Here is a reminder for you – if you can’t find anything to your liking, you can always hire an architect to design a house for you.

Orange County

Analyzing the numbers, it’s clear that Orange County is as fit and trim as any of the sunbathers at Corona del Mar’s beach. With a GDP higher than small European countries like Greece for example or Portugal, unemployment is just 3% and the median income is approaching $90,000—a figure that is $25,000 higher than the state’s median income. Comparing crime rates between Los Angeles and Orange County, it’s clear that Orange County is a considerably more secure location to call home. With one of the lowest violent crime rates among large U.S. cities of more than 100,000 and 250,000 inhabitants, Irvine in Orange County is a safe place to live.

The 34 cities in Orange County are noted for their tourist attractions, amusement parks, high-tech businesses, fashion, and outdoor sports, as well as their proximity to Disneyland. One of California’s most densely populated counties, San Diego is a major entertainment hub in the state. If you are planning to move here make sure to find experts to help you out. They will make the whole process easier.

Los Angeles County

According to experts and real estate brokers, consumers pay for Los Angeles because of the city’s outdoor lifestyle. To be able to breathe and appreciate the beautiful weather is what they desire most.” It’s not just the temperature that’s sweltering.

An Ambuehl property, a three-acre estate that had been listed for $3.7 million, sold for just over $1.8 million over the listing price. There is a steady influx of new inhabitants from the Los Angeles metropolitan region into places like Malibu, which is growing economically and socially. Malibu’s median property price has climbed by 126% in a year, to $4 million on average. You can find anything in this county. Los Angeles (the city) is obviously the most popular destination. Also, most of the luxurious properties are there.

Living in LA has a lot of perks so make sure to research this place. When it comes to finding the right luxury property in California we once again need to mention realtors as this is the best way to find your dream home. House hunting in Los Angeles can be quite fun.

Buying a luxury property in California – is it worth it?

As a means of both investment and residence, high-end residences have long been popular choices. Wealthy individuals (HNIs – high net worth individuals) and non-residents are becoming interested in luxury houses in India (NRIs). Interestingly, many first-time homebuyers choose this area as well. Even though India can be great we believe that sticking to what you know is often the best choice. Buying a luxury home overseas has its complications. Investing in California luxury real estate is a no-brainer. Have you ever seen prices dropping around here?
